What type of residual current device is recommended for an ATV320?

How to choose a residual current device (RCD) for an ATV320 drive?

For single-phase drives connected to phase and neutral, use a Type A or Type F device. For three-phase drives or single-phase drives not connected to neutral, use a Type B device. It is recommended to use a device with a delay and a nominal current of at least 300 mA. Use one device per drive.

How to choose a differential circuit breaker for an ATV320 drive?

For single-phase drives connected to a phase and neutral, use a Type A or Type F device. For three-phase drives or single-phase drives not connected to a phase and neutral, use a Type B device approved for frequency inverters and sensitive to all current types. It is recommended to use a device with a time delay and a rated current of at least 300 mA. If protection below 300 mA is required, the EMC filter screws must be disconnected. One device should be used per drive.

How to select a residual current device (RCD) for an ATV320 drive?

For single-phase drives (phase-neutral), use a Type A or Type F device. For three-phase or single-phase (non phase-neutral) drives, use a Type B device. It is recommended to use a device with at least 300 mA and a time delay to prevent nuisance tripping.

What type of residual current device is recommended for an ATV320 drive?

For residual current device (RCD / GFCI) or residual current monitor (RCM) protection for an ATV320 drive, the following types are recommended depending on the configuration:

  • Single-phase drives (connected to one phase and neutral): Use a Type A or Type F device.
  • Three-phase or single-phase drives (not connected to one phase and neutral): Use a Type B device approved for frequency converters and sensitive to all types of current. Additional recommendations: Due to high leakage current, choose a device with a time delay (to avoid tripping due to capacitive load during power-up) and a rated current of at least 300 mA. If multiple drives are used, provide one device per drive.
